This is one of those builders buckets, half full of:  Dandielions, Sowthistle, Plantain, Hawkbit, Campamula, Nipplewort,  Mallow, Sedum and Evening Primrose.  I have then added 8 hydrated  assorted Pre Alpin cobs and some Pre Alpin Fibre, Limestone flour and 1/4 tsp Nutrobal.

Exciting News!  A great Friend, Horticulturalist, Artist and Tortoise Keeper, aka Claire, has agreed to join the Urban Tortoise Enclosure!  She is amazing when it comes to identifying tasty, safe and unusual plants for tortoises.  Her own tortoises regularly feast on over 25 different plants in one meal!

Claire has agreed to pot up some of her plants to add to the shop, so that all of our tortoises can enjoy her delights.  Mid June 2011 is the estimated date of arrival for her first consignment of plants. They are already potted up, look...

Phlox came to the Urban Tortoise Creep about 20 months ago.  When I saw her I was extremely worried about her health.  She was reportedly Nine years old and the size of a one year old.  Her growth looked stunted and her colour very grey.  I paid a lot of money for her simply because my heart ruled over my head and I wanted to give her a chance in life!  She turned out to be very dehydrated passing huge urates stones. Her shell was a very odd shape.

20 months on I am so pleased with her!  You can see her new growth and she has become more yellow in coulour. I think her shape is also becoming more normalised although there is some way to go.  Best of all she has put on 100g in 20 months and only managed 50g in 9 years.  The least said the better about previous care me thinks!  I have also noticed that she has become much more confident, trying to take close pictures nowdays is not easy as she dashes over to inspect the camera!!

Meet Heidi. She came to me via the Tortoise Trust having been fed the wrong kinds of food and having lived in a viv.  As you can see she is very deformed and although I hope her health will improve her shell will be permenantly damaged.  At the moment her shell is very soft and she will need lots of calcium and time before it hardens.  She is full of character and eats really well

Mis shaen Heidi
