Do's and Don'ts!

Do's.. The Tortoise Protection Group (TPG) have a list of UK breeders. Often UK Captive Bred tortoises are cheaper and will most likely have had a good start in life with lots of individual care and attention. UK breeders will probably offer life long support to you which in my experience is invaluable. See the TPG breeders list here... http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/70.asp

Don'ts...Buying Totoises online is really really not a good idea for you or your tortoise to be! Some are sold as Captive bred but they are not UK Captive bred and the proving that they are captive bred in another country is almost impossible! I wouldn't even trust the Article 10 system any more. One such online company is very clever in its advertising and its website, giving the address ending with the word UK and then talking about Capitve bred, so it looks like UK Captive Bred! They are not I have a rescue tort from that very website and the article 10 is Slovenia, supposedly Captive bred but not proven. This tortosie has the longest vet history out of all of my tortoises, including being tube fed!

Any way you don't need to believe me, a little internet research is proof enough. Take a look at these links...
